The Cities We Serve: Jurupa Valley
At Ma Williams, we’ve been delivering exceptional homes to Jurupa Valley long before there was a Jurupa Valley.
The land was always there, of course; but Jurupa Valley was not officially incorporated into a city until 2011, when several other communities were joined within its city limits including Mira Loma, Glen Avon, Indian Hills, Crestmore Heights and Rubidoux.
If you’re thinking of moving there, perhaps into one of the beautiful manufactured homes supplied by Ma Williams, here’s the first thing you need to know: It’s pronounce “ha-roo-pa,” with the accent on the second syllable. The name dates back to the 1830s, when Senõr Don Juan Bandini received a land grant there from the Mexican government, and founded Rancho Jurupa.
Those ranching roots are still apparent in this small town with a western feel. Don’t be surprised if you occasionally see folks on horseback alongside the bikers and joggers. Farmland remains abundant, but now there is also a fine selection of stores and retail businesses. There are also amazing restaurants in nearby Riverside, from the sophisticated French cuisine at Le Chat Noire to the huge cuts of meat at Duane’s Prime Steaks and Seafood.
Close proximity to the 15 and 91 freeways have made Jurupa Valley popular among those who work in the city but would rather not live there. Los Angeles is just 45 miles away – a half-hour drive if the traffic isn’t heavy.
Thus far, Jurupa Valley seems to be handling its still newfound city status wisely. Growth is slow and steady, and zoned in a way to keep the beautiful vistas of the San Gabriel Mountains intact. There still seems to be a lovely park almost every few blocks, offering families a place to relax and enjoy good country living.
