Manufactured Home Production Up 20% From Last Year

According to official statistics compiled on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), manufactured home industry production is enjoying an extended period of growth.

HUD Code manufactured home builders produced 6,780 homes in May 2016, a 16.9% increase over the 5,798 HUD Code homes produced during the same month last year.

Total year-to-date manufactured housing industry production for 2016 now totals 32,570 homes, a 19.5% increase over the 27,257 HUD Code homes produced over the same period in 2015.

This is not a new phenomenon: in fact, the pattern of increased sales has been uninterrupted for seven years, with no signs of stopping.

Why is this happening? Obviously if sales are up that means demand is up, as more homeowners recognize the quality and value benefits of manufactured homes compared to traditional stick-built homes.
