Skyline Unveils New ADU Line

In our last blog we discussed how accessory dwelling units (ADUs) have become more popular nationwide, and especially here in California where new home prices continue to rise.

As more consumers begin to explore the benefits of these second unit homes, one of the nation’s top manufactured home producers will be unveiling a new line of ADUs this month at the International Builders Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Skyline Champion has joined forces with Urbaneer to develop modular and manufactured homes that are smaller in square footage, but offer comfort, versatility and innovation that maximizes every inch of space.

The newest entry in the line, the Urbaneer 510, was inspired by the smaller homes Urbaneer company founders Bruce and Brenda Thompson discovered while living in Europe. In cities like Munich and Barcelona, “compact living” requires creative use of interior components to turn smaller spaces into comfortable dwellings.

Two of these components — a moveable wall with wireless power that allows for reconfiguring of the ADU’s spaces, and a fold-down queen-size wall bed — have been integrated into the design of The Urbaneer 510. A wall bed can add or subtract 100 square feet of living space; when it’s not in use, that room can easily convert into an office or a gym.

Wireless power is also embedded in kitchen counters, to provide easy powering of phones and appliances.

Storage areas are likewise space-optimized through storage towers with adjustable shelving that accompany the wall bed system.

“Innovation is key to our success, so we’re thrilled to collaborate with housing visionaries like Urbaneer and bring their expertise in designing small living spaces to our customers,” said Mark Yost, President and CEO of Skyline Champion Corporation. “Combating the affordable housing crisis requires multiple viable solutions. Skyline Champion believes placing ADUs in America’s backyards is one powerful, practical and cost-effective step in the right direction.”

The Urbaneer 510 will be rolled out later this year. For information on this model or any of the ADUs now available from Skyline, talk to a Ma Williams representative today!
