The Cities We Serve: Manufactured Homes in Perris

We love Perris in the springtime…we love Perris in the fall.

Okay, perhaps residents won’t get Perris, California confused with Paris, France. For one thing, the cost of living in Perris is a lot more reasonable.

The city was established in 1885 and named after Fred T. Perris, chief engineer of the California Southern Railroad. It’s a fitting tribute given the role that particular railroad played in the initial migration and first settlements in the Perris Valley.

About 70,000 people call Perris home, and the population here is one of the most diverse in California.

Claims to fame? Perris has several of them, including the Lake Perris State Recreation Area, which is packed every summer with campers, boaters, fishermen and hikers.

This is also the home of the Orange Empire Railway Museum, one of the largest railroad museums on the west coast. And Perris was where the Farmer Boys restaurant chain started (in 1981). The food there is still pretty good, but locals now have many other quality dining options as well. The Urban Craft Eatery is one of our favorites.

As with many Inland Empire towns, Perris has attracted attention from Los Angeles and San Diego residents, and those who once considered moving to these two cities, as a lower-cost alternative. You’re still close enough to major Southern California destinations to enjoy all of the amenities they have to offer, without having to deal with traffic congestion and other drawbacks.
